Amazon Shutting down Alexa Ranking Site

Amazon to Shut Down Alexa.com Website Ranking Service in May 2022, After 25 Years of Operation

Amazon has announced plans to shut down the global website ranking system and competitor analysis tool Alexa.com. The resource has been working for 25 years.

Alexa.com is a subsidiary of Amazon that uses web traffic data from its partners to compile a list of the most popular internet companies. In addition to the global site ranking system, Alexa.com also offered a full suite of SEO and competitor analysis tools with paid subscriptions.

Amazon will end support for the Alexa.com platform in May 2022 and no new monthly statistics will be released thereafter.

“Twenty-five years ago we founded Alexa Internet. After two decades of helping to find, reach and transform digital audiences, we made the difficult decision to end support for Alexa.com on May 1, 2022, ”the company said.

Amazon has already stopped offering new subscriptions and customers with existing subscriptions will continue to have access to Amazon data and SEO tools. Existing subscriptions will be active until May 1, 2022, and access will be canceled after the deadline. Likewise, support for the Amazon API will end on December 8, 2022.

According to SaaS platform Semrush, organic traffic from Alexa.com is constantly decreasing, so it is possible that Amazon is shutting down the service due to its significant drop in popularity.
