HealthCare System Hacked, 75,000 Users Affected

An unknown hackers had hacked the computer system that interacts with the HealthCare website used by insurance agents to directly enroll the customers for the insurance plan.

Last Friday, Centres for Medicare and Medicaid service (CMS) had confirmed about the breached, and sad approx 75,000 users data have been compromised.

Report says that the compromised data includes names, addresses, social security number, citizenship, and income details.  CMS found an unwanted activities on their direct enrollment pathway on October 13, and for security measures they deactivated agents and associated brokers accounts.

CMS Administrator Seema Verma says,
“Our number one priority is the safety and security of the Americans we serve. We will continue to work around the clock to help those potentially impacted and ensure the protection of consumer information,”
CMS confirmed the HealthCare website was not affected and the FFE enrollment channels, including HealthCare.gov and the Marketplace Call Center, remain operational.
Moreover, all the agents and associated brokers accounts which were deactivated will be restored with in next 7 days.
