GTA 6 Gameplay and Map Leak: All the New Details

GTA 6 gameplay and map leaked on 18 August 2026. Six-star wanted level, stamina meter, fuel gauges and every new detail spotted.

GTA 6 gameplay and map leak: Rockstar Games issues DMCA takedowns over leaked Grand Theft Auto VI footage in August 2026

Two Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay clips and a full map of Leonida leaked online on 18 August 2026, and Rockstar Games started issuing DMCA takedowns within hours. Between them, the videos show a six-star wanted level, a stamina bar during fistfights, fuel and engine gauges on cars, and a karma system that judges Jason for his actions.

None of it is confirmed by Rockstar Games, and the build looks old. But this is the most GTA 6 gameplay anyone has seen since the 2022 breach, and it arrives nine days before Rockstar's own reveal. Here is every detail worth knowing.

What Do the GTA 6 Gameplay Leak Videos Show?

The GTA 6 leak consists of two clips, each roughly one minute long, both featuring Jason Duval, one of the game's two protagonists. Neither looks like marketing footage — both read as ordinary test capture, which is part of why they look credible.

In the first clip, Jason leans on the railing of a run-down waterfront property, vaults down to the driveway, and picks up a basketball. An on-screen tutorial explains a timing-based shooting mechanic in which the player holds aim until two rings overlap, then releases. After the shot drops, Jason's "Focus" stat rises by 2%. The ball eventually bounces off the backboard, rolls down a boat ramp, and hits the water with what Kotaku described as convincing physics and sound.

The second clip contains most of the new information. Jason drives along a highway, cuts into oncoming traffic, and collides with a Scoop delivery truck. The truck driver gets out and starts a fistfight. Jason wins, then picks up a pipe wrench and beats the downed driver to death, which draws the police. The clip ends as he pulls up alongside a helicopter.

New GTA 6 Gameplay Details Spotted in the Leak

Analysts at PC Gamer, Kotaku, and Engadget pulled the same set of mechanics out of the footage. This table groups them by system.

SystemWhat the leak shows
Wanted levelTwo lit stars sit beside four unfilled ones, indicating a six-star ceiling — one more than GTA 5, and a return to the pre-GTA V scale
Police identificationThree icons in the top-right show what the police know: clothing (hanger icon), face or hair (blank face icon), and vehicle (car icon)
StealthA blue directional arrow tracks how close police are to spotting the player, suggesting evasion is now a real option
Melee combatA stamina meter drains through the fistfight and empties entirely during the wrench attack, with the screen edges vignetting at zero
MoralityA devil icon with a minus symbol appears only once Jason attacks the unconscious driver, pointing to a karma system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2
VehiclesA pop-up names the car's make and model with what look like separate fuel and engine condition gauges below it
InventoryApproaching the car surfaces context prompts reading "Storage 0/4", "Loadout" and "Close"
Character statsSinking a basketball grants +2% Focus, indicating minigames feed into a trait system in the style of Arthur Morgan's stats in RDR2
MoneyTwo figures appear in the corner during the basketball clip: $39 in cash and $1,643 beside a partially filled house icon
MinimapA circular minimap in the style of GTA 5 sits in the lower-left corner

Fictional brands and the radio track

The clips also name several in-world brands that Rockstar Games has not shown publicly. PC Gamer identified a Sea Shark jet ski, the Scoop delivery company, a 24/7 Supermarket, an Arrow petrol station, Hamilton Private Health Clinic, and Fast Pass EMS on an ambulance.

The car radio in the driving clip plays "Impact" by SG Lewis, Robyn, and Channel Tres, which suggests the licensed soundtrack was already in place when the build was captured.

What Does the Leaked GTA 6 Map Show?

The leaked map image divides the state of Leonida into five counties: Lummox in the north, Kelly in the west, Leonard in the east, Vice-Dale in the southeast around Vice City, and Mariana across the southern wetlands and keys. Lummox County had not appeared in any earlier GTA 6 information.

Close-up images from the same source label Dalton Island, Gloriana Key, Catalan Key, Catalan Bay, and Tequesta Retreat. The surrounding waters are bounded to the west by the Gulf of Leonida, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the south by the Leonida Straits.

Three things on the map are new. Several small racetracks are scattered across the state, hinting at racing as both an activity and an income source. Jason's house is marked in the southern keys. And a separate marker with a "J" appears away from the player icon, which suggests GTA 6 shows you where the other protagonist is at all times — something GTA 5 never did.

Is the leaked GTA 6 map genuine?

The map is the weakest part of the leak. The community-run GTA 6 Mapping Project, which has spent years triangulating locations from trailers and the 2022 leak, has called the image fake, and critics on r/GTA6 argue the artwork is too simple to be a real internal Rockstar asset.

Reports also conflict on enforcement. Several outlets say Rockstar issued takedowns covering the map, while VGTimes reported that map posts on X had not been struck in the same way as the video clips. Treat the county names as unconfirmed.

Is the GTA 6 Gameplay Leak Real?

The video clips are almost certainly genuine, and Rockstar's own enforcement is evidence of that. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive sent Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notices to accounts on X, the video host Streamable, and Reddit, where posts were replaced with removal notices from the site's legal team. Publishers do not usually file copyright complaints over fabricated footage.

Neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive had issued a public statement as of 19 August 2026. Kotaku says it has contacted Rockstar and received no response. In 2022, by contrast, Rockstar publicly confirmed a network intrusion after around 90 development videos appeared online.

The building is old. Insider NateTheHate has said the clips are more than a year old, and community analysis points to a 2023 build, which means anything on screen could have changed. AI-generated fakes and recycled 2022 footage are also circulating under the same hashtags, so not every clip labelled as part of this leak belongs to it.

Who Leaked the GTA 6 Gameplay Videos?

An entity calling itself CYBERLEEK posted the GTA 6 gameplay clips and the map images on 18 August 2026. It is not confirmed whether CYBERLEEK is an individual or a group, and it has not stated how the material was obtained.

CYBERLEEK published a manifesto framing the leak as a protest against publisher practices rather than a hack for profit. It sets out three demands: end digital pre-orders placed before release and independent review, stop charging for single-player content already shipped inside the game, and guarantee an offline fallback for single-player content when servers shut down. It cites Ubisoft's The Crew as the failure case for the last point.

The document threatens further leaks until Rockstar Games apologises publicly, stating that "words are not enough; restitution is mandatory". It also promotes a Solana memecoin to fund what it calls a secret project, which is why several outlets, including PC Gamer and GamesRadar, questioned the stated motive.

Rockstar's own answer to the leak arrives on 27 August 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix at 3 PM ET, then reaches Rockstar's YouTube channel and website six hours later.
