Apple has introduced 'Apple Intelligence' - a personal intelligence system that integrates powerful generative AI models at the core of iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. This ambitious endeavour aims to revolutionize how users interact with their Apple products, elevating everyday tasks to new levels of efficiency and productivity.

At the heart of Apple Intelligence lies the fusion of cutting-edge generative models and personal context, tailored to deliver highly relevant and intelligent assistance. The system is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, harnessing the prowess of Apple silicon to comprehend and generate language, images, and actions across applications.

"We're thrilled to introduce a new chapter in Apple innovation. Apple Intelligence will transform what users can do with our products — and what our products can do for our users," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "Our unique approach combines generative AI with a user's personal context to deliver beneficial intelligence."

One of the standout features is the brand-new systemwide Writing Tools, empowering users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly anywhere they compose, be it Mail, Notes, Pages, or third-party apps.

The Rewrite capability allows users to refine their writing tone, while Proofread ensures grammatical accuracy and suggests edits. Summarize and condense lengthy texts into digestible paragraphs, bulleted points, tables, or lists.

Apple Intelligence also brings exciting image creation capabilities through Image Playground, allowing users to effortlessly generate fun images by combining concepts, personal photos, and various styles. This feature seamlessly integrates into apps like Messages, Notes, and Keynote, fostering enhanced communication and self-expression.

Apple has partnered with OpenAI in a remarkable collaboration to integrate ChatGPT into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS experiences. This integration will enable users to access ChatGPT's vast knowledge and capabilities, including image and document understanding, without the need to switch between tools frequently.

Siri, Apple's virtual assistant, will also benefit from this partnership, gaining the ability to tap into ChatGPT's intelligence when helpful. Users will be prompted before any questions or documents are sent to ChatGPT, ensuring transparency and control over the process.

"We're excited to partner with Apple to bring ChatGPT to their users in a new way. Apple shares our commitment to safety and innovation, and this partnership aligns with OpenAI's mission to make advanced AI accessible to everyone," said Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

Privacy remains a top priority for Apple, and the company has set a new standard for privacy in AI with its 'Private Cloud Compute' feature. By flexing computational capacity between on-device processing and dedicated Apple silicon servers, Apple Intelligence can handle more complex requests while ensuring data is never retained or exposed.

Apple's integration of ChatGPT into its platforms is a significant step towards making advanced AI more accessible to users. While access to ChatGPT will be free without an account, subscribers will be able to connect their accounts and access paid features seamlessly within Apple's Writing Tools and other experiences.

With Apple Intelligence and the OpenAI partnership, Apple aims to redefine how users interact with technology, blending personal context, generative AI, and uncompromising privacy to deliver an intelligent and intuitive experience across its product lineup.
