Windows 11 22H2 September Update (KB5030301) is Now Available
Last week on September 21, 2023, during a special event in New York, Microsoft announced it would ship a big feature update for Windows 11 on September 26. The day has arrived, which means those using stable Windows 11 releases can download and install the Windows 11 Moment 4 update.
This September Widows update contains plenty of important features. We have already covered what is going to come on the KB5030301 Windows 11 update.
Microsoft has released Copilot, an AI-powered assistant, from preview and updated it with a new icon on the Windows 11 taskbar. The taskbar now enables users to ungroup icons and display labels. It also contains an upgraded volume mixer with per-application sliders and simplified switching between audio output devices.
In addition, File Explorer has multiple enhancements including support for various archive formats like RAR, TAR, and 7Z. File Explorer also has improved tabs, modernized UI elements, and more capabilities.
Microsoft has added new features to Paint, the Photos application, and the Snipping Tool in Windows 11 as well.
Microsoft has published the update with an important which reads -
"After today, September 26, 2023, there will no longer be optional, non-security preview releases for Windows 11, version 21H2. Only cumulative monthly security updates will continue for the supported versions of Windows 11, version 21H2."
It is worth noting that, a number of versions of Windows 11 21H2 will no longer get any updates at all after October 10, 2023:
- Windows 11 Home, version 21H2
- Windows 11 Pro, version 21H2
- Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, version 21H2
- Windows 11 Pro Education, version 21H2
The remaining editions of Windows 11, version 21H2 will continue to get security updates.
