ChatGPT Can Again Browse Internet - OpenAI Official
Today, OpenAI unveils enhanced Internet Browsing Capabilities for ChatGPT. The announcement comes via Twitter tweet, announcing major upgrades to the internet browsing capabilities of its wildly popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT.
In a series of tweets, OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT can now browse the web in real-time to provide users with up-to-date, authoritative information - a major expansion beyond its original knowledge cutoff of 2021.

With the new browsing features, ChatGPT users can leverage the bot to conduct online research, get current facts and figures, and find helpful links and resources on topics ranging from technical queries to travel planning.
The upgrade aims to make ChatGPT more useful for tasks requiring timely, trustworthy information from across the internet.
According to OpenAI, the bot is now able to follow robots.txt protocols and identify itself via user agent strings. This allows websites to control how ChatGPT interacts with their content. The company said this was a direct response to feedback received after the initial launch of limited browsing capabilities in May 2023.
For now, the unlimited browsing is only available to users on ChatGPT's Plus and Enterprise plans, but OpenAI stated that the feature would roll out to all users soon. To enable browsing, users can select "Browse with Bing" under the GPT-4 model options.
President and Co-founder of OpenAI, Greg Brockman tweeted-
"ChatGPT is now browsing enabled. It’s not just able to search, but can also click into webpages (and site owners can choose whether to permit access) to find the most helpful information & links for you. Available to Plus and Enterprise users"
ChatGPT has exploded in popularity since its release in November 2022, wowing users with its human-like conversational abilities. However, its lack of access to current web data has been a major limitation. This latest update looks set to supercharge ChatGPT's capabilities and utility, delivering users an AI assistant that can truly provide up-to-the-minute information and insights.
