[UPDATE] Microsoft to Acquire GitHub for $7.5 Billion

Microsoft reportedly acquired GitHub, biggest code hosting service
There was news flowing from last days that software giant, Microsoft is going to acquire code repository, GitHub but the deal has not finalized. Later On Bloomberg reported that the software giant has agreed to acquire GitHub, and that the company chose Microsoft partly because of CEO Satya Nadella.

GitHub is a vast code repository that has become popular with developers and companies hosting their projects, documentation, and code. Apple, Amazon, Google, and many other big tech companies use GitHub. Even Microsoft have also hosted its Windows File Manager source code on GitHub and its employees too having numbers of repositories.

After Nadella becomes CEO, Microsoft is loving open source community. Microsoft also join open Source community after open sourcing codes of PowerShell, Visual Studio Code, Edge Javascript Engine. Moreover, Microsoft have brought Ubuntu on Windows 10 and also Kali Linux (can be found on Windows Store).
Microsoft is also using the open source Git version control system for Windows development, and the company even brought SQL Server to Linux. Microsoft’s Visual Studio Code, which lets developers build and debug web and cloud applications, has soared in popularity with developers.

Did Microsoft Acquired GitHub ?
 Till yet its not clear that Microsoft have acquired GitHub or not and if acquired then on how much the deal has been made.

But here's something, the official Twitter account of GitLab posted a tweet about the same acquisition and looks they are quite happy with it.


This clears that acquisition is been made. But the deal fare is not yet known ..

We have also seen that some of the developers were not happy with this acquisition, hence they are moving to GitLab, another code repository.

UPDATE :
Now here's an official update came from Microsoft. It states that deal has been finalized fir $7.5 billion.
