Microsoft to ends Security Emails Notifications
If you are a subscriber of Microsoft Email security updates, then here is a bad news for you. From 1st July onward Microsoft will not send any kind of security email notification to any of its users. The mail notification which consist the details about the latest security updates on Microsoft products, and other information related to threats, and upcoming Tuesday patch will not be send now.
After the company began releasing its security patches on a regular monthly schedule, it started sending emails to customers a few days before to let them know how many and what kinds of patches to expect. Along with these Microsoft also send the latest security brief or security advisories, that has been update latest on the security news bulletin.
The email posted on the Full Disclosure security mailing list, inform all the IT enterprise team about the Security email notification that the service is going in response to the change in government regulation.
The emails reads that,
As of July 1, 2014, due to changing governmental policies concerning the issuance of automated electronic messaging, Microsoft is suspending the use of email notifications that announce the following:- Security bulletin advance notifications
- Security bulletin summaries
- New security advisories and bulletins
- Major and minor revisions to security advisories and bulletins
According to the mail, all the users are notified to subscribe the RSS feeds described on the Security TechCenter website for the security updates.
Regarding this topic, change in the email notification, Microsoft have didn't respond till yet. Neither company have comments on this. With some sources it is being says that change is because of the new anti-spam law, which is going to taken effect from next month in Canada.
