Microsoft Confirms to Rebuild Edge browser using Chromium

Follow @cyberkendra A couple of days back there was a news first reported by Windows Central that Microsoft is dumping its new Edge web browser and planning to build a new one with open source Chromium project (code library used by Google Chrome).

Now today, Microsoft finally confirmed the report and said they are planning to rebuild Edge browser using Chromium.

The reason behind the base change is, software giant wants to give the best web browsing experience Windows. Moreover, Microsoft has already started working this new Edge browser and its first release is coming up within a month only.

On the blog post, Microsoft says -

Today we’re announcing that we intend to adopt the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility for our customers and less fragmentation of the web for all web developers.

As Microsoft is working on a Chromium-based browser that means it has to design a whole new series of things. Microsoft committed to getting all the necessary features on the upcoming web browser.

As part of this, we intend to become a significant contributor to the Chromium project, in a way that can make not just Microsoft Edge — but other browsers as well — better on both PCs and other devices.
