India’s largest private sector bank, ICICI Bank have announced its banking service with twitter. The new service allows bank users to send money to other people via their twitter account. ICICI Bank is the first bank in India to offer the banking service via twitter.

Mr. Rajiv Sabharwal, Executive Director, ICICI Bank said
“ICICI Bank has always been a pioneer in using path-breaking and innovative technology to reach out to its customers. It has been our endeavour to anticipate our customers’ needs and be where our customers are." ‘icicibankpay’ will help our customers to execute banking transactions while they are socialising on Twitter. This innovation is in line with our philosophy of ‘khayaal aapka’ wherein we offer products and services which make banking easier and more convenient for our customers." - he added.

The service lets customers to send money, check their accounts balance, view last three transaction. It also allows users to replenish credit on a pre-pay mobile account. 

Any ICICI Bank customer (with a Twitter account and registered mobile number) can use the service and the recipient doesn’t need to be an ICICI customer, the company said.

How to use the Service
For using the "icicibankpay" service customer have to follow bank's twitter account @ICICIBank and send a Direct Message(DM) in the format "#reg <space> <registered mobile number with ICICI Bank>". After sending Direct Message, customer will receive 'one time password'(OTP) on registered mobile number. After that customer have to send the same OTP number from the twitter account to bank's twitter account in the following form "#regotp <space> <OTP>" as a direct Message.
